Thank you! That is exactly what I was going for--for John, things are about life and death, saving or not saving, but Rodney's the push away when he wishes he could pull closer, internal relationship kind of guy. The one who doesn't want to be emotionally left behind.

I would love to see this story remixed from John's POV. That would be as powerful as this one. Very well written!
