RL updates, and such
May. 29th, 2006 12:39 amThe wedding was lovely--best one I've been to. I think if mine (very ceremonial, extra-traditional in terms of language, attire, and number of attendants) were combined with theirs (very spiritual, more laid-back, hand-written vows) it would count as the perfect wedding! It will be nice, however, to get back into the groove of being a hermit who just writes and messes around in photoshop. I played a 4 hour game of whiffleball (we won!) today at a party for the bride and groom (very informal, sort of a sendoff for their honeymoon); that had to be the most exercise I've had in MONTHS.
Oh, and I fell down the stairs. Landed on my KNEES. Not my hands and knees, my KNEES. Bruise city. My poor Powerbook G4 (named 'Straylight' for the ability to alter its keyboard backlighting and screen lighting based on the light it senses in the room) landed with me, on a short end. It appears to be just fine, but I was almost more upset about THAT than myself.
Until my knees started to hurt, that is. *takes more pain pills*
I want to also recommend
hh_sorting (
hh_home) to anyone that has been considering a Hogwarts sorting community, or might want to join another one. One thing I was so delighted with was the level of detail that goes into sorting (I remember before my hiatus I was in
lumos_home, and they liked being detailed too--but OMG so many applications! I couldn't keep up, at the time, kudos to that place, however)! The members seem to really love delving into why they think you belong somewhere, and after spending time on an application it can't fail but make you feel special to get feedback like that! Then, after I was sorted (dun dun DUNNN Gryffindor! Anyone surprised? No? Moving on...), not only did they post about it in their great hall, but in my common room too!
Bottom line is, if you like sorting comms--run, run! Go apply, and tell 'em Darsy sent you! If you've never tried one before, this is a great jumping-off point, imo.
I want to say, too, that I still love
hogwartsharmony (H/Hr sorting comm, but open-minded), and
newts_exam has a great concept (drabble/graphics comm, but not very active, sadly)--and I did enjoy the time I spent at
hat_sorting before I decided to leave it...I just thought I'd give a shoutout to my newest 'home,' as I've been nothing but impressed.
