MASSIVE FAIL, AMAZON.
Apr. 12th, 2009 09:17 pmWas just reading unfunnybusiness on Journal Fen, and came across this post. Apparently, Amazon has decided to de-list all 'adult' books. However, their qualifications for 'adult' seem to be more geared toward 'LGBT,' 'feminist,' or similar, with heterosexual stuff remaining remarkably intact.
In fact, they've done such a 'good job' with this de-listing (which has now been google bombed--check out the search for amazon rank), that now the TOP SEARCH RESULT for 'homosexuality' returns A Parent's Guide to Preventing Homosexuality.
I pointed this out to G, and he said, "if that's their most popular book on the subject, I don't see why they'd alter their search algorithm so that doesn't show up...?" My response was kind of heated... "it IS the most popular book--NOW THAT THEY DE-LISTED ALL OTHER LGBT BOOKS!"
I think this would be an excellent time to vote with our feet, folks.

cleolinda beat me by seconds (note: I'm being a bit tongue-in-cheek here, I meant I hit post and she hit post first; I know I was gone all day and there are a lot of posts about it), and her post is much better than mine.

seperis has some good links for perusal.
