Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] lantean_drift. Why 'to cheer me up?' Let's just say expectations and results for something I did recently were wildly disparate.

Pick a fandom that you know I at least know about, and I'll tell you:

1. The first character I first fell in love with

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't

4. The character I love that everyone else hates

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer

6. The character I would shag anytime

7. The character I'd want to be like

8. The character I'd slap

9. A pairing that I love

10. A pairing that I despise

*appreciates and munches*

1. The first character I first fell in love with Hermione. I was very much like her as a youngster, and the more I read of her the more I enjoyed reading about her!

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now Luna Lovegood! The later books really caught me in regards to her character, in a way I hadn't expected. She's smart, quirky, and independent, and I really like that.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't Draco Malfoy. I just... I understand the character, but am not interested in him (as a character or as someone to write) at all.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates I'd have to say Ginny, though I know not everyone hates her, quite a few do. For me, it's about the way I perceive her less than the way she's written, I guess you might say. I also like to stick up for people who I think have been given an unfair shake, and a lot of the strikes against Ginny have been unwarranted, imo.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer Tonks. I'm torn, here, because I don't want to say I don't like her anymore, but, definitely not anywhere near as much as I once did. It's really hard to say 'look, I think the author did this character an injustice, and therefore I refuse to take certain aspects of her as written as canon' but it's either that or say 'well, I don't care for that character anymore' due to a few lines in a book.

6. The character I would shag anytime Remus. I loved him before David Thewlis came along, and whether he behaves as he does in fanon or strictly from a book standpoint, I'd still never kick him out of bed. Mmmm.

7. The character I'd want to be like A cross between Minerva and Hermione, I think. The first because I love her discipline and humor (along with many other things)--but many aspects of her character have led to her being alone and driven, which is where Hermione comes in--to temper that. Plus I just really like them both.

8. The character I'd slap Ron. It's not that I don't like him, far from it, but he's so unbearably selfish sometimes that I just think he'd do well to be snapped back to reality.

9. A pairing that I love Harry/Hermione for the angst factor, Remus/Hermione for the meeting of minds factor.

10. A pairing that I despise So, I wouldn't go as far as 'despise' but I really don't see the attraction of Harry/Draco. I get the whole rival!sex thing, but for me, maybe it's their youth, or just the animosity I find it hard to get over... I just, no. Do not want.

*laughs* Wow. We are complete opposites :) I love Harry/Draco, really like Ron and can't stand Hermoine. Ah well. As long as we agree on the John/Rodney it's all good ;)

Heh, that's the thing about HP, and why I'm so happy with SGA right now--too many divergent tastes! The weirdest part for me is understanding WHY people like what they like but disagreeing with them on it... like, for example, a lot of people hate Cho, and while she's not my favorite character, I definitely see why people don't like her, and why they do.

I really think with the Draco/Harry thing, it's their age more than anything else. I'd use Richard Dean Anderson as an example--I never really found him all that handsome as MacGuyver (sp), but as O'Neill, yes please! So, while I'm okay with youthful het, youthful slash just turns me off.

I should add, by the way, that I really do love Ron--but he needs to be slapped... *runs off before she does more damage*

*grin* Viva la McShep!
