Title: That Which
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Explicit sex
Genre: Slash, action/adventure, humor, romance, hint of mystery
Summary: That which does not kill us by collapse, frustrate us to death by refusing to love us easily, or confound us by sabotage—that which gives us hope… makes us stronger.

When Teyla's still missing, Rodney's done pining, and John's just trying to figure out where to go next.

Notes: Any resemblance to events that appear in season five are purely by coincidence with one possible non-spoiling exception. Spoilers up to 'The Last Man.'

Huge thanks to my betas [livejournal.com profile] cold_poet and [livejournal.com profile] beahorgana, without whom I'd be completely lost! A special thank-you to my support group ladies at [livejournal.com profile] bb_gene_therapy, to [livejournal.com profile] grammarwoman, [livejournal.com profile] taste_is_sweet, [livejournal.com profile] cathalin and [livejournal.com profile] vaginasaurus for listening to me plot (and whine) over and over, and everyone else that had to deal with me agonizing over getting this done (read: my wonderful flist)! Again, thanks.
Artwork: A lovely piece illustrating one of my favorite parts, by [livejournal.com profile] monkey_junkey! Please click the preview to see the whole piece, this is just a hint!

Please leave feedback at the link provided via the Big Bang site, and not here! Thanks.

That Which @ the SGA Big Bang Site.

Writing this was a blast, really, for all that I'm really bad about flirting with deadlines. I've never written anything so plotty before, and it was a lot more fun than I expected! One of the things I enjoyed most was trying to put in some signature character moments for the supporting cast in the story, and so Ronon, Zelenka, and Sam to name a few got their own places to shine in That Which. Ultimately, though, it's John and Rodney's story, where each goes through their own kind of journey. I hope you enjoy!

Big Bang RECS: Dawn Will Break (by [livejournal.com profile] ca_pierson and [livejournal.com profile] darkmoore, McShep) has a premise that recommends itself (John hops through universes, Quantum Leap-style, fixing things), so I don't think I have to prod anyone too much to go read that (eta: it occurs to me that I raved a lot more than I had planned to about my other rec--this fic was also a great read, fun, fabulous premise, and I enjoyed it a lot)-
-but (as in 'but for those who weren't looking at non McShep stories/those who needed to be poked, of whom I include myself:') I also read [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve's These Proverbs We Made in the Winter Must End, a Jennifer/Ronon piece. GO READ IT OMG. Spectacular world-building, spot-on characterization, and the simply gorgeous writing we've all come to expect from [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve. Plus, the art, oh the art. *handsflail* I know you guys, like me, have been waiting for your McShep novel-lengths since signups, but this story really is amazing, and [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper's awesome art convinced me to read it before a lot of the other stories I've been waiting for. I didn't regret my choice a bit.
Title: A Little Like Indiana Jones, a Lot Like That Disney Movie
Summary: "Well, Indiana," John said with a wide grin he aimed in Rodney's direction, "At least snowflakes don't bite."
Rating: PG, most likely. No warnings.
Length: 1,653
Notes: Yeah, so here's where I admit that I don't know the protocol for if someone hits their head and gets temporarily knocked out, so I'm warning you in advance it might seem unrealistic. Realism in cold-weather scenarios is not quite the premise of this fic, though, so hopefully you'll forgive me and enjoy the smoochytiems. Yay for [livejournal.com profile] mcscmooch!
Another note! Also, for any who didn't have the pleasure of being influenced by Pollyanna and 'the Glad Game' as a child, click the link to be enlightened!

( Read it at McSmooch! )

ETA: Stealth edit hath stolen the fic and deposited it on the wings of [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch. Sorry for any freakish results that may have occurred!
Title: Hear Me Out
Summary: “Have you ever noticed that rushing things seems to be a theme in this galaxy?”
Rating: PG
Spoilers: This is an episode tag to 'The Intruder', so 'spoilers' for Season 1 and the first few episodes of Season 2.
Word Count: 3,132
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon for her birthday, and I am TERRIBLY LATE OMG! Sorry about that! I hope you like it, sweetie! Wall kissing and lots of Rodney dialogue!
Additional Notes: Moral support from [livejournal.com profile] vaginasaurus! I hope it's okay that I post it here and edit my [livejournal.com profile] catenip post--I would feel presumptuous making two [livejournal.com profile] catenip posts... [[EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] berlinghoff79, you will not like this story... *overprotective Darsy*]]

Hear Me Out )
Title: Controlled Descent (Estimated Time of Arrival)
Summary: John never expected it to happen, but he had always imagined that if it did, the setting would some sort of extreme circumstance, a life or death situation.
Rating: G (PG? is kissing G?)
Word Count: 1,060
Original Fic: Controlled Descent (for maximum effect, do read this one first--it's only 500 words)
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] artword's Second Chances challenge, which was to take a previously written fic and piece of artwork and remix them with each other in context. I chose Controlled Descent, and [livejournal.com profile] clear_as_blood chose Faith. Please do click on the image and visit [livejournal.com profile] clear_as_blood's page for the remixed art--I particularly love Rodney in it!

Controlled Descent (Estimated Time of Arrival) )
Just a quick attention h0r moment note to say, I hath porned (both NC-17):

Title: Lure
Pairing: Atlantis/John
'Summary': It had taken the journey of three million light years in a few steps—without a doubt, the fastest John had ever traveled, and he hadn’t even needed to be strapped in for it—for him to feel uncomfortable while jerking off in the shower.
Porn Battle Prompt: 'unwelcome attention'

Title: Convince Me
Pairing: John/Rodney
'Summary': “God, John, all day,” Rodney was saying, and John wanted to look, because Rodney wasn’t *touching* and Jesus, he hadn’t even thought to care whether the door was open— “All day, you, in these pants,” Rodney said...
Porn Battle Prompt: 'dominance'

ALSO, be sure to check out the constantly updated Porn Battle Stargate Link Roundup for all your lazy convenient Stargate: Atlantis, SG-1, and Stargate crossover needs!

ETA: Okay, and, so, I obsessively edit out mistakes/correct things, and I think at [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis gets each one in the mailbox, and GOD, I'm SORRY! ARGH. I had to apologize somewhere, because it kind of ruins the mood to stick it in the porn plus I fail at word/character counts so there wasn't room anyway, so here's my grovel, I did it for the PURITY OF THE PORN! *snerk*

Title: Acceptable Risk (the Slow Burn Remix) (story text)
Summary: It was April when they kissed the first time
Warnings: vague season 2 spoilers
Rating: PG-13
File Type: .mp3
Length: (10mb) 22 minutes
Link: right click/save as, please (permanent)

Notes: I... *facepalm* I did voices, sort of. And a bit with the toothbrush... Also, I realized after I posted it that I could have put the cover art in the file! OOPS. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] vida_boheme. Hopefully this existing at all is enough of an apology? :)

Yeah, I'm being stupidly prolific and I apologize. I just have time in the summer and I really like sharing this stuff...

So, IF I HAVE TIME (haha), which story should I do next? )
Title: Pulse Point
Summary: John wakes slowly, his body becoming aware of its surroundings in stages, as if his senses want to take turns coming back online.
Warnings/Spoilers: none // Tabula Rasa
Word Count: 650
Notes: For the beautiful and talented [livejournal.com profile] lilbreck on her birthday! Also, as my plot idea turned out to match up perfectly with the current challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] mcsheplets: Challenge 22: Written Words.
Additional Notes: Episode tag to Tabula Rasa; a third standalone in the series starting with Gentling and We're Onto Something.

Pulse Point )
Title: Equal and Opposite Reaction
Summary: During the rare moments when Rodney isn’t lying to himself about it, he admits he’s in love with John.
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 3,300 (I KNOW. OMG.)
Spoilers: none
Notes: So, last night at 2 AM I told myself I needed a quick break from my [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang story, so I opened up a text file and told myself I'd write a quick [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch. Yeah, that went well. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] unamaga for looking it over for me and giving wonderful and necessary suggestions! This is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] equusentric. ♥
Additional Notes: I TOTALLY forgot to mention the AMTDI aspect of this... hee.

Equal and Opposite Reaction over at the community.

ETA: I just realized I've posted six stories in June with a combined total of nearly 20,000 words. All of which ON TOP OF Big Bang. And it's the freaking seventeenth of the month. I am seriously Missing the Point, muse-wise, here. *headdesk*
Title: Controlled Descent
Pairing: John/Rodney, unrequited
Summary: It shouldn’t hurt this much.
Rating: G
Word Count: 500 words
Spoilers: The Siege
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] mcsheplets' Challenge 21: 'Abstain.' It's actually not that depressing, I swear! Also, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] unamaga for looking it over for me!
Additional Notes: Note: Now remixed by me as Controlled Descent (Estimated Time of Arrival)

Controlled Descent )
Title: Think the Dancer Mad
Summary: Those who hear not the music think the dancers mad. —Proverbs
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: PG
Word Count: 9,424
Notes: Spoilers for all seasons up to Outcast. Written for [livejournal.com profile] artword's Challenge 010: Reversed, inspired by the awesome art by [livejournal.com profile] clear_as_blood--click the previews to see them both/leave feedback! A huge, huge thank you to [livejournal.com profile] unamaga for her beta work and suggestions (she is REALLY good at hand-holding! Thanks BB) and also to Leah, for moral support.

Think the Dancer Mad )
I can't believe I... Well. See for yourself:

Title: Stuck On You
Summary: "Isn't that just typical," Chipped muttered to himself. Then, a little louder, he said, "You don't have much room to talk--at least I don't have a *mutant edge*. I thought there were regulations against that sort of thing."
Rating: G
Warnings: AU. OH, SO AU.
Author's Notes: THEY'RE ICE CUBES. *headdesk*
More Coherent Author's Notes: This was my husband's suggestion. I kid you not. Tonight at dinner he said, and I quote: You should write a crack!fic where John and Rodney are ice cubes. There'll be drama, because they are going to eventually melt, and they can have sex, because ice cubes can get all stuck together, etc., etc. This actually turned out FAR more fluffy than one would have expected. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] clear_as_blood for the encouragement.
More Notes!: Now with cover art by [livejournal.com profile] clear_as_blood! Thanks sweets!

Stuck On You )

ETA: There is now (brain-meltingly cute) ART (shown under the cut/above--don't forget to tell her how awesome it is!) by [livejournal.com profile] falling_colors ILU.

ETA2: Tune in some day in the far future, when ice!Rodney worries that he'll be placed in a glass of ice water with *gasp* LEMON in it, and John-cube distracts him by engineering a daring (and nearly suicidal) rescue mission.

ETA3: There are now (omg so so adorable) ICONS by [livejournal.com profile] altyronsmaker!
I apparently can't let myself write anything without posting it across the length and breadth of fannish influence, though I don't know if there's some sort of 'protocol' for comment fic? In any case:

Title: Gentling
Author: [livejournal.com profile] darsynia
Summary: Rodney wakes when the mattress shifts from John's weight beside him.
Rating: G
Word Count: 378
Notes: Comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] unamaga; also posted at [livejournal.com profile] mcsheplets. EDIT: No spoilers :)

Gentling )
It's time for the big reveal! I had an absurdly awesome time doing remix, I encourage everyone to give it a go the next time--the organization was fun, the person I was assigned to had great stories to pick from, and the whole posting on sockpuppets thing was marvelous and mysterious and fun as heck. I'm posting the story here in its entirety, but my first cut will be linked back to the community in the hopes that people will take the hint and check out some of the other fantastic stories posted not only in the SGA fandom but in many others. After such a horrible week, this has been a great experience to look back on! My only regret is not having time to read and review some of the great entries! I've got to remember to do that.

Title: Acceptable Risk (the Slow Build Remix)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] darsynia
Summary: It was April when they kissed the first time.
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Spoilers/Warnings: vague season two spoilers
Word Count: just over 3,000
Original story info: First Monday, by [livejournal.com profile] flyakate
Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lilbreck for looking this over for me! I will say the story stands alone without needing to read the original--but I'd not suggest skipping First Monday by any means. It is a very fun story from John's PoV, and I encourage everyone to read it as well.

ETA: Now with cover art (also below the cut) by [livejournal.com profile] vida_boheme! Thanks sweets!
ETA2: Podfic!
ETA3 (OMGZ!): Now with dvd commentary by the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] vida_boheme! I AM NOT WORTHY! <3

( Acceptable Risk (the Slow Build Remix) on [livejournal.com profile] remixredux08 )

Or, read it here at my journal... )
Title: How Many Astrophysicists...
Summary: I really should have been paying attention, John told himself as he sat on a cracked Ancient console, gun on his lap, watching the foot-high water lap at the soles of his boots.
Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] sg_15_fics's prompt 'Tension'
Characters: John/Rodney.
Rating: technically PG but it seems awfully hot to me--I'm biased ;)
Word Count: ~5,000 this part, around 8,000 in total
Notes: Takes place sometime in season 3, spoilers for Grace Under Pressure and Tao of Rodney. This chapter is unbeta'd, because it's 1:00 in the morning here and I'm impatient.
Disclaimer: So very much not mine, but I'll live.

Part One
Part Two )
No way can I resist this. The smut cliches were even BETTER but I'm still new at that and these were pretty good to start with.

Explanations:
Superhuman - a character has unnaturally good strength/healing ability/mindreading skills/shooting skills/stamina etc etc

Prove it - a character has to or wants to prove their love/loyalty to another character

I own you - one character takes another as a slave to save their life/as a punishment

Not now! - a really, really badly timed declaration of love

Im in ur fic - the pernicious Mary-Sue factor. Need we say more?

Save me from myself - one character has low self-esteem issues/is self-harming/has been sexually abused/is clinically depressed and needs the intervention of another character

Curse you - and your sudden and inevitable betrayal...

No way out - characters are trapped/kidnapped/captured/jailed

Insanity takes over - any bit of mythology/conspiracy theory/supernatural legend is actually real. No, really.

Don't I know you? - characters encounter each other before/after canon timeline

The Table Itself )

In my defense, there's no time limit, and I KNOW I'll end up forgetting about this comm. Plus [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip is a member! That's enough reason right there!
