So, I spent three days not on LJ at ALL because I started college this week, and this happens! I'm sure the multitude of people who have already posted about this have covered all of the things I'm feeling right now (with the possible exception of wanting to just... non-creepily cuddle David Hewlett because his dear twitter posts about loving his job make me so very sad in this context).

I... I wish they'd waited till after the break, or at least after the episode tomorrow. Five aired episodes is NOT enough, in my estimation, to determine whether or not a show is deserving of being renewed! To be completely honest, David's episodes strike me as some of the most popular throughout the demographics, and the fact that they didn't wait until an episode centered on him airs tells me there's not much we can do as fans to prevent this--not that we won't TRY, of course. It just seems like a decision that's less based on audience and more on other factors.

Oh, and I think the single-most pressing concern for all of us right now besides the immediate 'oh show' is losing friends from fandom. I don't plan on going anywhere.

*clings to your leg* I'm not ready to leave this awesome fandom!

Still, SG1 fandom is going strong, 3 years (?) after their cancellation.

*huddled hugs on the floor*

I agree with you on longevity; also something to consider is the fandom's tendency to write based on ANY time period in the show, not just the last events as seen on screen. I think that will stand us in good stead when we have to wait months and then never for new material.
